We meet with you at your accommodation in Marrakech for a scenic journey of approx 1hr 45mins to the Toubkal National Park. While journeying through the Imlil Valley it becomes evident you are travelling to somewhere special.
On arrival in the area, you visit the Berber village of Imlil to gain a perspective of the overall setting before meeting with your professional trekking Guide and mules for a private approx 2hr mule trek along the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. The trek provides you with a fascinating glimpse into a unique rural environment and the opportunity to have lunch in a traditional family Berber home.
In the afternoon you return to Imlil and visit Kasbah Toubkal, which can only be reached by mule or on foot, for refreshments and relaxation. The Kasbah/Hotel is staffed by local people of Berber heritage and the result of an imaginative Berber and European partnership involved in social development projects for the benefit of the locale.
The pace of daily life at the Kasbah/Hotel is leisurely reflecting the tranquillity of the retreats surroundings and somewhere to experience the true spirit of rural Berber life surrounded by often snow-dusted mountain peaks, picturesque valley and fertile terraces below.
Internally the Kasbah’s decoration from the intricately carved doors to the colourful handmade rugs has been made by local artisans evidencing the Kasbah’s philosophy of sustainability and community support. A percentage of all visits to the Kasbah is reinvested into projects supporting the local Berber community and another reason why we like to visit.
We feel sure Toubkal will leave a lasting impression. It certainly did for the film director Martin Scorsese who filmed scenes for his film ‘Kundun’ from the Kasbah’s terrace making it a worthy Oscar-winning view.
